Durch die Entwicklung der Mana-Technologie, die es den Menschen erlaubt magiegleiche Kräfte einzusetzen, gehören Dinge wie Kriege, Hunger und Umweltverschmutzung der Vergangenheit an. Mana ist für die Gesellschaft so zentral geworden, dass all jene, welche diese Technologie nicht einsetzen können, nicht als gleichwertige Menschen angesehen werden. Stattdessen werden sie komplett verstoßen und sogar für gefährlich gehalten. Als eine derartige „Norma“ wird auch Angelize, die Prinzessin des Misurugi-Imperiums, enttarnt, die davon bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt jedoch selbst nichts wusste. Man nimmt sie gefangen und verbannt sie auf eine abgelegene Insel. Dort wird sie gezwungen mit anderen Norma-Mädchen mittels humanoider Kampfroboter, „Barameiru“ genannt, gegen riesige Drachen zu kämpfen, die, aus einer anderen Dimension kommend, die Erde überfallen. Mit ihrem alten Leben in Trümmern, muss Angelize nun in ihrer neuen, gefährlichen Umgebung bestehen.
